where are you on your spiritual journey? Christian Spiritual Formation

Mentoring/Soul Care

“SoulTalk is the language of SoulCare…Think of SoulCare as a special kind of relationship, an encounter with a supernatural purpose. The agenda, as we tag along behind the Spirit, is to see someone’s appetite for God become the ruling passion of his or her life. If you are “in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed” in someone’s soul (Galatians 4:19 NIV), you are in a relationship of SoulCare ~ Larry Crabb”

As we look at Spiritual Formation we recognize that it is a process. In the context of a local church, our formation process is greatly hindered if we do not have authentic, meaningful conversations with other believers. We all long for someone to believe in us, to encourage and challenge us, to help us see God at work when sometimes all we see is hardship or suffering. Deeper work requires exposure and authenticity, things we paradoxically both fear and desire. We need to be known and loved more completely, and greater spiritual work cannot be done in isolation.

Spiritual directors and soul care relationships (spiritual mentoring) require a multitude of questions that will help expose inner motivations, questions that challenge the status quo and leave us more thirsty for God.
